Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour (or try white whole wheat)
- 2 cups water (or enough to make a moldable dough)
- 1/4 cup of canola oil or less
Instructions
- Place flour in bowl, add water slowly until a dough ball forms.
- Once dough ball forms, place on a floured surface and divide into 3 or 4 small pieces, then roll each with a rolling pin.
- Rub oil on the inside of each and wrap each into a ball shape and let sit for about 30 minutes.
- Then roll each with a rolling pin and cook on a thin frying pan (griddle).
- While cooking the roti, rub oil on both sides and cook until each side is light brown.
- With tongs, hold roti over open flame until bubble forms.
- Serve hot
Notes
- This Roti Bread recipe came from a mixture of students I taught in a cultural foods class. They were wonderful sharing not only their recipe but stories of how they made this with their mothers and grandmothers. Loved it!
